Day 10-The Hills Are Alive With Ossios Loucas and The Most Romantic Hotel In the World

The majority of today was spent in the bus.  We had some distance to cover to get to our next destination.  Yes, we were leaving Glyfada and heading to Arachova, a tiny mountain town that gets snow in Greece.  But first, we made a stop at the Monastery of Ossios Loucas.  There is something really special, at least to me, about going into old Greek Orthodox churches.  Maybe it's because I'm Greek Orthodox; but I felt a warmth and at peace when we were visiting them.

Monastery's have excellent gift shops.

From Ossios Loucas we went to lunch at the base of this beautiful mountain, thanks Roula, and we continued our adventure to Arachova.  The town was mostly dead; it has more people when there's snow, because there's not much to do there, except for I'm assuming, activities involving snow.  Arachova is pretty.  So we stopped for scenic photos.

The Likoria Hotel in Arachova Was In the Middle of This
When we arrived in Arachova we took a walk around the town.

We were attacked by two small children with water guns

The lady in the background has her hand over her mouth...I think she's in shock...Kristine is a good sport...

I used some Greek so the kids didn't bother me
And I got to wear a fun hat.

We hung around the lobby for a while; since we were the only people staying in the hotel, and went to a group dinner at the local taverna, 'Kaplanis.'

These were our balconies at the hotel:
It was a fairytale

The hotel was literally built into the mountains, so you had to take the elevator down to get to the rooms.  The key system was "broken" so we never ended up getting room keys our entire stay there..but it was also cool because they didn't charge us for any booze at the bar...but then it wasn't cool because the elevator was broken on the last day and I had to carry my suitcase up three flights of stairs...

Andrew, Dan, Karey and I stayed up late playing the newest trend in Scrabble games:  Greek alphabet-Phonetic English Words.  It's quite challenging, and the rules are a little loose, but here were some of the highlights...
My favorite is epoxy on the far right-hand side...although cops is a good one too....
